Drug tests for employees are very stupid, yes. You can be a raging alcoholic and addicted to legal opiates and they can't do anything about it, but if you smoked a joint to unwind on the weekend, they can fire you.

I passed the drug test for my second to last job after drinking four or five beers. True story.
Failing for pot would be stupid though, just don't smoke for 2 weeks before and you're good to go. Many places will not ever test you again after their initial screen.
