  2. woot.com today has an Asus 12in netbook for $240, looks pretty good.

  3. Paint.net is also pretty good for simple image editing.

    Isn't the video on most netbooks pretty awful compared to the iPad?

    I think netbooks now can do 720, but iPad isn't even 720 so the point is moot.

  7. There are some Atom N270 Netbooks that have NVIDIA ION graphics.
    That would be much better than an iPad.

    Most of the netbooks that I've seen have 1068x600 standard resolution - which is actually worse than the iPad (1068x720).

    But, my point wasn't really that - a lot of the user reviews that I've seen with Netbooks seem to lament video performance/stuttering, etc...

    I'm not trying to start or augment a PC/Mac debate. I'd probably lean towards a Netbook, too, if I had to choose.

    This is a good discussion. I think the older netbooks are slow and can't handle 720p videos. New ones should be fine, plus some have HDMI port so you can hook it up to TV. Not so with iPad, obviously.

  10. You can video out over component on the iPad, for what it's worth.
