I'll miss that one good Namco game every five years.
G4TV story
Namco Bandai Partners VP Olivier Comte has said that always-on DRM (Digital Restriction Management IMO, where are your rights in this?) is a good approach, even if it's not the best.
Having such intrusive DRM on recent UbiSoft PC games is bad enough - let's not have this line being crossed, outside of Capcom's Final Fight Double Impact on PS3 (Capcom should step back behind said line and remove the DRM). To hell with $60 rentals that only play if you're connected to the Internet.
Comte should be fired.
Finished in 2021: 8 games (PC: 4, PS4: 2, PS3: 1, X1: 1)

Wow. At least it's easy for legitimate owners of the PC versions of these games to download a crack. It's an entirely different story for console releases.
what the fuck does namco bandai make now, dragon ball games? yeah fuck those guys
Well, Pac-Man CE already exists, so I don't see this bothering me in any way.
I already don't buy their games because of their DLC unlock file bullshit. I guess this is just another reason.
So long as this bullshit stays with companies not making anything worth buying, that's fine. Still, a few public sacrifices of the offending executives might be a good idea to prevent the spread of this idea's infection to worthwhile gaming companies.

This is upsetting, because Namco is publishing three of the more original games coming out this year: Inversion by Saber Interactive, Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom by Game Republic, and Enslaved: Odyssey to the West by Ninja Theory. Here's hoping that this is just idle banter and they don't actually implement that sort of DRM bullshit on retail console titles. As much as I love Ubisoft's games, I will absolutely not purchase any Ubisoft PC games that use their DRM, and I didn't buy Final Fight: Double Impact on PSN.
Come to think of it, Final Fight didn't have the same bullshit on XBLA. Is there something in the cert requirements for XBLA that prevents that sort of idiocy, I wonder?
xbla dlc works 100% differently, unless I'm missing something entirely from your statement
