Thread: The Walking Dead

  1. I can't believe they took six episodes to hype up the seventh. That seems so silly to me.

  2. Last night's episode was long overdue but it was excellent. They keep doing just enough to keep me interested.

  3. Yup. Kudos for having the balls to shoot the zombie girl. Fuck her For being a dumbass.

  4. I wish they didn't drag it out, but everything made sense and glad to have a resolution to this. Now where the fuck is that redneck.

He told her to wait and she INSTANTLY left the tree truck, I don't feel sorry for her. I do feel sorry for her mom, though.

That episode was great, this show needs every episode like that instead of making us sit through 5 fucking hours up build up for ten minutes of incredible.

I don't think he's really that important. Even if he did show up, it wouldn't be much of a surprise.

  7. It's not going to be a surprise when he shows up, it's all about wtf is going to happen when he does. He'll rip up their community faster than any zombie would.

  8. this is what I find pretty interesting about this season of The Walking Dead:

    1. Jon Bernthal is killing it as Shane, I think. Keeping Shane around is basically the only reason I'm watching. If they make the show follow the major events of the comic but then add "except Shane's there," that should keep things pretty interesting for a while. My only concern with Shane staying is that it doesn't really give Rick a reason to develop a dark side. Shane is making the kind of choices that Rick started to make at the prison, which makes me wonder if they are basically just splitting his character with Rick as the warm, practical one and Shane as the cold id. I don't know, maybe not, Rick did cold shoot a kid at the end of the last episode.

Basically I think Rick is a little flatter because Shane is still there, but that can change. At least I hope so. I also like that Rick knows about Lori and Shane in the TV universe, it should make the baby-daddy issue a bit more interesting

    2. Sophia. Killing Sophia was neccessary. I wasn't confident that the show had the balls to do it, frankly. I was expecting them to go all TV and have her come up alive some how, so I was pretty happy to see her shambling out of that barn. Up until now, the show hasn't had the same kind of teeth that the comic had. They took out Amy, but Amy wasn't much of a character to begin with, and while Sophia isn't much of a character either, her kid status kept her safe in the mind of most viewers (hell she's still alive in the book). If they had wimped out and found Sophia then that whole arc would have been a wash. Stretching out the hunt was a gamble, and I think they probably stretched it out an episode too far, but had they not spun their wheels on it, I don't think Sophia's reveal would have been as dramatic.

One thing I liked about the last episode was the way they presented the barn itself. If you look back at it, amongst all of these lush, green fields that Hershell likes to admire so much, sits this grey, rotten looking barn. Cool visual gag

Anyway, I think I liked this season more than most of you. Not perfect, of course. Master of Deduction Dale is a little silly. I'm not sure what he was trying to accomplish by trying to hide the guns or confronting Shane outright; I'm also not too sure what else they can do at the farm. I forgot why they left the farm in the book. Why'd they leave the farm in the book?

And holy shit is Maggie a hottie or what?

  9. Also, Merle could be a kind of Governor replacement. One who lacks a hand and is bitter towards Rick and maybe wants to settle things....

*Edit - Nevermind, Darabont and Kirkman shot that down a while ago:

Darabont: "Merle will not be The Governor because what a lame and obvious course that would be"

Kirkman: "It doesn't make Merle any less important a character to have him not be The Governor."

Still, Merle will be back, and it seems pretty doubtless that he's going to test his brother's loyalties. They already planted the seeds for it.
