The problem everyone has with the scene is that the way it was shown, the only feasible way a zombie would have ever been able to get directly behind Dale without him noticing would be to literally sneak up on him.
That's why it's hilarious. He was out there specifically to look for a zombie, and we're supposed to believe that he was so inept that when he was already being cautious as he approached the cow, a zombie was able to walk up right behind him. Not to mention we haven't seen a single zombie that has done anything other than very audibly hiss & snarl the second they see a human anywhere near them.

Yes, obviously the idea was that the dead cow had his attention and that's why the zombie "got the jump on him", but in no way did anything in the shot support that idea. It's the same awful direction that made the traffic jam "omg the zombies right up in our grill all of a sudden!" situation so ridiculous and unbelievable.

The show is still good. It has its problems, but it is still worth watching and better than just about anything else on tv. It really does seem like people in this thread are just trying to find something to cry about though. Some of the stuff is dumb and wouldn't/couldn't happen the way it does but it is a show about fucking zombies. Are we really going to nit-pick about what couldn't happen?

Josh, definitely check the show out. At least it is something other than another cop, hospital, or reality show that ia on every other fucking channel, The first season is really good and the second is a bit slower but still enjoyable. Just stop watching when you feel like it's starting to suck. I haven't gotten to that point yet.

The main invitation to hate here is just that the first season was actually really good, and to see this slip off into mediocrity now is disappointing.

Why wouldn't I? If the zombie didn't make a sound until he had me why should I have heard him? Are you a fucking sensor of the air? Can you tell when one molecule is missing or displaced in the air and all of a sudden your Spider-Sense kicks in? I would be cautious of the disemboweled cow but it could be a coyote in the area. It doesn't mean it was a zombie automatically. Don't be dense.

The dead cow was a giveaway something was amiss. You grew up in the city so I'll cut you some slack, but at night in or near a forest you hear every ficking sound that's out of the ordinary. You would have surveyed the area with gun cocked and loaded. Where the fuck was the zombie hiding while he approached? It's just a stupid scenario altogether.
