Thread: The Walking Dead

  1. Looks like all-out war now, from the preview of 8.12 "The Key" shown on Talking Dead.
Late in episode 8.11, called "Dead or Alive or", Negan slathers Lucille with some zombie guts. It seems like doctors are jinxed on TWD, or at least that the Saviors have a general grudge against them. Dr. Carson just got offed.

  2. Episode 8.12, "The Key", picked up the pace a bit.
Negan & the Saviors hit the road to "put the fear of God" into Hilltop. A wrathful Rick spots Negan's car, then gives chase in his own car & rams him, causing a wreck. After a short gun battle, they're at it in a dark old building. The fight leads to Negan taking a long fall & dropping Lucille. Rick finds Lucille first, then uses Glenn's lighter to set it ablaze. Walkers start coming, then some get bashed with the flaming bat. Negan gets Lucille back & escapes Rick, only to be captured later by... Jadis. Simon, the Saviors' resident nutjob, takes command then makes plans to exterminate Rick's group. Look out.

There is some speculation that The Whisperers may go to Fear instead of TWD. It's said that Fear is going to have a time jump to catch up with TWD's events.

  3. Fights with fire are always cool.

  4. 8.13 was good. A big battle with the Saviors, & one hell of a surprise soon after. Can't say it was a surprise, really. Since the Saviors had treated their weapons with walker guts, the injured got infected & ended up turning the following night.

  5. It was nice to see zombies be a threat again. Turned into a horror movie for a few minutes.

Yeah, definitely agree there. Timing that a few hours after midnight was perfect. A real "oh shit" moment, even if you knew what was about to go down.
I sure hope Tara isn't SOL. Dwight shot her... he's been kind of a double agent lately. Maybe that arrow wasn't dirty? Dwight seemed in a big hurry to hit Tara before Simon could.

He shot her so the other asshole wouldn't. At the end of the episode, everybody had turned except for her, so I don't think he shot a tainted arrow. This episode was a train wreck - from Darryl shooting on a motorcycle all the way to the front gates, to the saviors creeping up in the dark to the house with every window open as if nothing were going to happen, to the group not having someone on night watch for the first time in the history of the show, to the comically telegraphed kid letting the prisoners loose, this was as sloppily a written an episode as this show has ever seen. Awful, really.

  8. Slowing it down a little tonight. Back to the junkyard, where we see what goes on between Jadis & Negan. Later, she turns him loose. He heads back to the Sanctuary. Carol saves Henry from a couple walkers.
Rick & Morgan get knocked out then captured by some of their ex-prisoners & hauled into a bar. No, this is not the start of a joke. On Talking Dead they had this to say about it: Rick & Morgan walk into a bar... there is no punchline... only death. Rick warns the captors that a herd is coming. They find out he's not BSing, so they set him & Morgan loose. The Saviors here get wiped out by Rick, Morgan, & the walkers. At least they're trying to make walkers feared again.

Two more to go. Fear starts on the 15th, after that night's TWD.

  9. Another filler episode - makes me think Neegan & Co. is not going to get resolved this year and dragged out even further. Sigh. Jadis setting Neegan free was just dumb. This close >< to calling it a day with this show.

  10. Next week, THE WAR ENDS. Looks like that'll be a wrap on the Saviors arc.

Daryl & Rosita captured Eugene but he got away. I think Eugene is beyond redemption & will probably go down thanks to a pissed off Daryl or Michonne. The power struggle between Simon & Negan ended with the mother of all fights. Plenty of punches flew until Negan got Simon on the ground then choked him to death. Near the end, after Michonne reads Carl's final letter to Negan, he's not swayed. The only thing he has to offer is a promise to totally exterminate the Hilltop group.
