Thread: Android Thread

  1. Let's just hope Sprint decides to drop LTE, too.

My Evo4G picks up GREAT WiMax service... nowhere!

  2. LA doesn't have LTE?? Why does my small-ass cow town get it then?
    Check out my blog: ExHardcoreGamer.com

  3. I don't understand how they choose some of the areas they offer certain products or services to. Granted I'm only in Southern Illinois, but they put in 4g for Verizon last year, but not in any of the major towns, but an older, semi decrepit town that I don't see having a reason to be given 4g service.

  4. What's frustrating is that all the LTE towers around me are active, but Sprint is keeping devices from using them. I really hope they'll use the Evo launch day as the reason to allow access to them. They certainly didn't with the Nexus.

  5. They're waiting for the evo 3d on virgin launch. Guess we will have to wait and see if they give you the 3d screen at the $300 price point, or if they just give us a decent phone for prepaid plans to take advantage of. At the very least, it will drive the price of the Triumph down.

I'm going to guess because you have Verizon. Everyone else's LTE coverage kind of blows right now.

LTE is amazing though. I have to drive about 10 miles north to pick it up but it's significantly faster than my cable internet connection at home.

  7. BUT THE PENILE DISPLAY RUINS EVERYTHING

  8. Frog - so I found a Korean version of dodonpachi, and it downloaded the apk fine, then it made me download a g-gee download service.apk and then I just get a pop up saying my device is incompatible

Have you found any workarounds yet?

Edit: this just makes me sad

  9. Yeah, the amount of exclusive stuff on G-Gee is absolutely infuriating. And no I haven't found a workaround that actually works, although I've seen stuff that might possibly work for someone.

In other news, Android Jelly Bean seems to be out, and it's a much more conservative update than ICS was, which hopefully bodes well for less painful upgrades this time around (my phone still doesn't have ICS through official channels yet, although the leaks and homebrews are pretty mature now). The bullet point features are fluid 60fps movement on the entire interface, vastly improved notification system, a Siri-like voice assistant, some improvements to the launcher (that will probably get backported into ICS launchers like Apex), and some feature called Google Now that seems like the ultimate manifestation of Google's strategy of finding conveniences that make it acceptable for them to know way too much about you.

I wonder if they can manage to make a version of Android that I can hand to someone else for 4 seconds without them going "I don't know what I did" because they palmed a capacitive button or something.

  10. Someone gifted me a Kindle fire. Amazon can lick my vas deferens so I rooted it and installed ice cream sandwich. Shit is perfect.
