Dude, this thing is telling me to root it then install some kernal shit then I gotta get the proper kernal and then I can install some copy of ICS but it may kill my USB docking WHAT THE FUCK

I love Samsung phones. To get ICS:

Step 1, Connect phone to computer
Step 2, Flash ICS with Odin one-click
Step 3, Profit

Don't even have to root (although you might want to after the fact, just because rooting has other perks).

Pretty much. When I rooted/installed ICS on this fascinate/showcase I was surprised at how easy it was

I do remember it being a whole thing on my last phone though where I had to push use the sdk and type in a bunch of command line crap and run all these scripts. It varies from phone to phone but the trend has been toward making it easier for consumers to do that kind of thing.

Which is probably smart because people are going to do it anyway so making it simpler also makes it safer and gives you less people asking you to fix their bricked phones.
