Curious what we are talking for extra power too. Xenoblade was one of the better looking Wii games, factoring in crap video the 3DS version still looks a bit off.

Nobody cares about this. It's outselling the Vita everywhere, and they're never going to make a big enough upgrade to the 3DS and match the Vita.
We've been hearing about it as Nintendo's next portable and console systems, it's not going to be anything that has to do with the 3DS or Wii U. Why would you expect it to be talked about at a 3DS Nintendo Direct. The system has only been out for 3 1/2 years, we're not getting a successor announced this year. Their handhelds tend to stick around longer, we didn't get the 3DS announcement till about 5 1/2 - 6 years into the DS's life. Granted the DS was selling much better. That said we're not going to hear about the Unified platform (which most likely is going to be a shared OS) for a few more years. I'm going to guess E3 2016 at the earliest.Where the hell is the unified portable/console platform we've been hearing about?
Seriously. Vita is dead, nobody cares how anything compares to it.
I will purchase one of these to replace my XL with the fucked up trigger. Once again my procrastination pays off.
It's clear the Nintendo execs think like you do, which is why they're now continuing to circle the bowl after the double-flukes that were the Wii and DS.
My point was more that the Vita is an outdated benchmark even, not that they should be trying to match it.
Hardware power just doesn't matter with handheld gaming. Even on mobile. The most popular games are shit like Flappy Bird and Clash of Clans. Even if Nvidia is theoretically close to matching 360 with a mobile chipset, nobody is gonna buy their hardware except for Joust. It literally does not matter.
No face plates for XL systems is a letdown.
