What a terrible sentiment.
You know what I discovered that made me cry?
Street Pass/step counter doesn't seem to work if you close the system while playing a DS game. I made sure to take it with me the other day when I went on my weekly pillage of Upstate New York.
When I got home and finally got to a save point in the game I was playing, I hit the Home button only to find I had racked up no play coins! BOO TO THAT SHIT NINTENDO!
ALSO BOO TO PORTABLE GAMES THAT DON'T ALLOW YOU TO SAVE ANYWHERE OR SUSPEND PLAY!
Less ugly, too!
It's strange to see a game that isn't even that old remade so soon. Stranger still that, given how popular it is for how it plays, the only real "value" they could add was making it 3D...which isn't that much of a value.
It's seeing the stuff like this that makes me worry about 2D games for the 3DS. I'm sure we'll see 2D gameplay stick around, but its like all the stuff coming out now pushes 3D because of the 3D screen, when there's no real gameplay value in that, and only further robs the diversity of gameplay visuals (hand drawn vs polys, etc) that the DS has embraced.
I know we're supposed to get some 2D hand-drawn stuff with 3D effects or whatever, but all I keep seeing at this point in time is 3D with 3D for the sake of 3D and nothing else. What else could explain a developer's apparent need to take a good game that did what it did really well (Cave Story) and fuss it up?
And it was freeware that looked like a Genesis/SNES game. It's not even remotely surprising that when a company showed interest in bringing it to a larger audience they went with 3D.
