People have tried, IIRC.
(Big secret: Metroid 2 doesn't even exist in the same reality as Super Metroid; it's just not that good of a game! The lore you get in the intro to Metroid 3 is all you need to know from it!)
This is also worth listening to. Give it a minute to get past the shrieking and weeeet noises. (lol it never gets past that because it's a gameboy game)
The music and creepy sound effects were really good at building atmosphere. And those Metroids were scary. You walk up, see the shell and you go "oh shit, where is it" and you wander around for a bit, KNOWING that it's out there somewhere, and then... BOOOM. WEEEEEEEEEEEET! It attacks!

Metroid 2 was super scary as a kid. For a Fat Boy game it managed to carry the torch from the original Metroid pretty damn well.
Of course Super Metroid is light years ahead, that shit was on the SNES.

Rad maybe; best no. The PC Engine and/or Genesis have it beat in most genres. But I'm not proposing we beat that dead horse here.
