In all seriousness, this is such fucking bullshit. I still have a regular 3DS (didn't upgrade to XL) and now I need a "New" 3DS to play certain games? Are they releasing games for old 3DS anymore? 3DS was released so recently, I can't believe it's outdated already. This almost as bad as Apple with the new iPhones and iPads constantly. I fucking hate this type of shit.
There is one game (Xenoblade). I'd rather see a New only game than no game at all. I am pretty sure that 99% of games will continue to support the old hardware.

I see your point but I'd rather see a game that supports original 3DS than a New only game. I don't know if 99% of games will be supported. I could see them releasing a New only Zelda, Mario or Metroid. If they don't release a New only killer app than this business decision is retarded. Xenoblade is just the beginning I think. Anyway fuck it I'll buy the thing, probably the Majora's Mask edition too. I'm not pleased though.

  3. I'm guessing this is the 3DS's version of the DSi. Something that will tout hardware you can make use of for exclusive games that few will put to use.

Also, the team working on the Xenoblade port was also responsible for the abomination that is the DKCR port, so don't get too excited.

I think biggest load of bullshit about the New 3DS is how its control functionality is effectively just a Circle Pad Pro, but I'm already seeing them strip out CPP support on games that tout how awesome the C-stick is. You can use it in Smash, but the CPP won't work at all. If that's how they go from here on out, that's a $200 camera controller you're looking at.

  4. http://www.amiami.com/top/detail/det...e=GAME-0013470 oh good, i found a solution to dumb NoA giving me the option between two ugly colors and an even uglier hairy decoration instead of giving my giant American hands and my giant glaucoma eyes the option for the thing i actually want that i already have that's region-locked

how i feel about this right now:

    Click for full size
    Donk

  5. in other "Finch is cranky but he won't be for long because he's dumb" news, i cleaned up pretty dress up play time Jp n3DS screen

    Donk

I don't think that's how it works. They're separate control interfaces according to the system, because of how the CPP had to be implemented. So I think games can support both, but that support isn't automatic. For example, Smash Bros supports the new analog nub, but not the CPP, because the CPP requires processor usage that wouldn't reduced the power of the game, or something along those lines. (Anyone correct me if I'm wrong, though.)

This morning just proves why I find Nintendo of America to be so useless. Japan can get both models, Europe can get both, we can't. A problem with retailers? Hey, Nintendo has their own online shop! Why not sell it there? Why not sell it exclusively through retailer websites? There's plenty of options we could have for getting it here, even if they didn't lift a finger to then also give us faceplate choices. Retailers don't want it AND the 2DS? That's not a problem in Europe. I know people are talking about sales numbers, but there were enough physical upgrades in the 3DS XL that it made it a smarter choice, even if you didn't care about screen size. We don't know what sales would be like on equal footing, which is what the New 3DS and New 3DS XL would be.

At least we're getting a new Style Savvy and Rhythm Heaven, so now I get to sit around wondering if NOA will actually bring those over or not. I can't believe how furious this company makes me, and I'm not even a hardcore fan of theirs. I can't imagine what actual Nintendo followers in the States feel, unless it's one of those "abused spouse" situations where you're just happy to get any kindness given your way.

Edit: I finished reading. I'm not holding my breath.

  8. I'm confident by this point that Nintendo is allergic to money. Inability to gauge Amiibo stocks over the holidays, Majora LE game and system sold out within minutes, charging airline fees for a charger less system, etc. at a time when your public image is murky at best this is just hilarious.

At this point Its iffy that Xenoblade will sell me this thing.

  9. From the Nintendo Europe twitter:

    look at those MonHun faceplates

    LOOK AT THEM
    Donk

  10. New 3DS is a big old "no" for me. My current 3DS XL is plenty, and basically a dedicated Fantasy Life player. I don't play RPGs enough for Xenosaga to sell me the system, so it can wait a few years.
