I don't think that's how it works. They're separate control interfaces according to the system, because of how the CPP had to be implemented. So I think games can support both, but that support isn't automatic. For example, Smash Bros supports the new analog nub, but not the CPP, because the CPP requires processor usage that wouldn't reduced the power of the game, or something along those lines. (Anyone correct me if I'm wrong, though.)
This morning just proves why I find Nintendo of America to be so useless. Japan can get both models, Europe can get both, we can't. A problem with retailers? Hey, Nintendo has their own online shop! Why not sell it there? Why not sell it exclusively through retailer websites? There's plenty of options we could have for getting it here, even if they didn't lift a finger to then also give us faceplate choices. Retailers don't want it AND the 2DS? That's not a problem in Europe. I know people are talking about sales numbers, but there were enough physical upgrades in the 3DS XL that it made it a smarter choice, even if you didn't care about screen size. We don't know what sales would be like on equal footing, which is what the New 3DS and New 3DS XL would be.
At least we're getting a new Style Savvy and Rhythm Heaven, so now I get to sit around wondering if NOA will actually bring those over or not. I can't believe how furious this company makes me, and I'm not even a hardcore fan of theirs. I can't imagine what actual Nintendo followers in the States feel, unless it's one of those "abused spouse" situations where you're just happy to get any kindness given your way.
