If you both have to enter matching info and there's no friend requests going out then it's still a problem.

I had to make up three different usernames just to use my 2DS and I still don't know what each one is for. Nintendo is just fucking stupid at this.

Yeah, that's terrible. My daughter has had her own for years, but she still has to borrow mine if she wants to play certain digital games like the Ambassador stuff.
My wife and two daughters all play, but the wife doesn't have a DS. They're always bogarting mine whenever they want to play 3D classics. I'm going to buy the new one and give my old XL to the missus, but they're still going to hog mine.

The NX is a massive, massive bet for Nintendo. They can't afford to confirm suspicions that the Wii and DS were just sales anomalies during a general generation-to-generation decline.
