    A few 3DS launch sales:

Kmart: Get $25 off when you buy a system and one game

Toys R Us: Buy one game, get one half off

Best Buy: Buy two games, get $10 off (not as good as TRU, but I don't have a TRU near me)

  2. The Amazon deals are pretty great. Those of us who are getting our systems from them will be receiving a $25 credit towards a game after the system ships. Furthermore, if you preorder a game, you get a $10 credit towards a second game, and the two credits can both be applied to one game. So, your second game is gonna be almost free, and the only downside is that you have to wait a little longer for it. (I'm pretty sure you can still get in on both these deals, but I wouldn't expect to get your system in the first shipment if you haven't already ordered at this point.)

I ordered Samurai Warriors Chronicles and will be getting Ghost Recon Shadow Wars once I receive my credits. I was planning to get Street Fighter instead of SWC, but none of my irl friends are getting 3DSs until summer at the earliest, so it'd be kind of a waste without anyone to play with.

  3. I ordered the black system with Pilotwings and Nintendogs through Amazon. Pretty sweet deals.

  4. A teardown of the system shows it costs Nintendo about $104 to manufacture one. Even after paying for r&d and advertising (not like there's been any), looks like they're once again making a good profit on hardware.

That's because they're once again selling horribly outdated technology with a single added feature designed to mask it.

Breakdown of unit costs (materials), does not include R&D or shipping costs.

  7. That's what I said.

  8. It costs $1500-3000 on average to manufacture a car too. Point?

  9. Got to play Street Fighter on one yesterday, it's not bad. "Dynamic Mode" is stupid, though!

Wait so you don't like it again?

It's so damned frustrating. I just got back from Best Buy, where I gave it a whirl. The 3D works great. It's not as convincing as my 3D Vision set up, but it's also tiny and glasses free, so I understand the need for concession there. I so wish the 3DS and the NGP were the same unit instead of having to choose 3D or horsepower. The other thing that continues to worry me about the 3DS is the lack of the second analog. The one it has is about 100x better than the PSP's, but without a second one, several key genres simply won't work. And then, of course, there's the launch line up. The good news is that Ridge Racer apparently came out good, against all odds from early reports. The bad news is that there isn't a whole lot else.
