They will leave out a second stick option in many games just because they know many people won't have one, so that's wrong.

It's not just the lack of a second stick (which should have been included from the start and utilized in more games); it's that they're gouging people for an accessory that could and should have been integrated into the new model to begin with. I imagine with the CPP XL it'll cost as much as my Vita did, and there just aren't enough games on it (or on the horizon) I want to play that justify spending that kind of money again. Just my personal preference, I suppose.

But the DS I would go so far as to call my favorite system of the aughts.
This I would agree with. I probably played it more than anything else during that period of time.

They fucked up by introducing the CPP in the first place. The market has already been split, putting the stick on the XL would've solved the problem. The games that support it (MonHun, KH, RE, MGS) all play better with it than without it, the end. Those are some pretty big names, but other developers will be scared to use it because it shrinks their market for no fucking reason.

It's not like this is a new thing, we've seen a new control scheme become the standard during a console's life in the past like the Dual Shock or even Wii Motion Plus. The only reason to do what they did is money. They're too cheap to build it in and they want you to spend more money to buy it. I understand why they did it, but since I'm not a shareholder but a consumer, I don't agree with the decision.

Same reason I bought a DSI XL and still enjoy it to this day. I'm old, going blind *lol Jeremy* and I like a bigger screen when it comes to my games.

But instead they decided "Morons will pay for both again, it'll make us more money. Our fans are complete idiots hahahahaah do it."

Because you consumer whores let them get away with it.

You do a new iteration of hardware, and exclude something you added which had a nice increase in usability and playability in it? Then decide that you still want it, so you just turn it into an addon again?

    I mean really?
Oh, shut the fuck up. I'll support the shit out of the 3DS XL. And I'm quite sure you and most of the other whiners in here have supported much scammier bullshit. If you've given Capcom any money whatsoever in the past few years for instance you're on that list.

Nintendo has their moments, but they're generally not out to nickel-and-dime every chance they get. Everything Andrew said was right. It's also not *just* the second analog. It would also be a second set of shoulder buttons they'd have to add to every single new unit to make the CPP truly obsolete. Why the hell would they do this, effectively turning their casual-friendly portable into an intimidating and unwieldy monstrosity when these inputs will be unnecessary and unused in the vast majority of the system's software? The "hardcore"-focused Vitanic doesn't even have a second set of shoulder buttons.

Yoshi's also proving he didn't play more than a level or two of Kid Icarus:Uprising if he still thinks an analog would be a suitable replacement for stylus aiming.

  7. Curious to start reading impressions of the 3D functionality from XL users. In theory, the sweet spot should have a wider berth for viewing. Also in a few models they opted for a white interior, thought I read somewhere that dark borders draw out 3D images better.

Oh absolutely yes, no question. It's by far a nice system than the smaller one. The screens are perfectly sized.

  9. I know the bigger screen and physical sizes are bonuses to me atm. I'm not really a portable gamer these days, but I love me portable-style games like the DS had. So having those in a bigger format is a win-win.

I didn't mention Kid Icarus. I mentioned Resident Evil, Metal Gear Solid, and the soon to be released Kingdom Hearts. I hate the way you have to play Kid Icarus, but it has nothing to do with this discussion.
