Nomi - your rat is adorable!!! My mom got a rat but it turned out it was pregnant and it had 24 babies, so my mom had a lot of rats for awhile. They were so neat but i wish they lived longer They are so smart and have funny little habits like building forts.

That sucks about most pets

At least dogs and cats live for 10+ years and some pets like parrots will live as long as people. I had some mice for a science project years ago and I was upset when they died long after the experiment. The rats another guy had were even cooler! I get pretty attached to animals that I can interact with on a social/emotional level. We almost had to get rid of my cat recently and I got super bummed and depressed about it. Fortunately, we resolved the situation and he will continue to be my dearest friend.

A friend of mine had a parrot. When I was over his house it jumped on the couch next to me and started squawking at me and trying to bite me. He took it back to his cage and several minutes later, I heard the thumping of it's feet at the other end of the house getting closer and closer. It came back, jumped on the couch and tried to bite me again. He had to lock it up in the cage. I didn't even so much as talk to the bird before it started doing this. Fuck that bird.
