The first screening went down on Friday in NYC and some early impressions have been sneaking out! From Dark Horizons.

The first "The Dark Knight Rises" screening took place for a few dozen select junket press this morning in New York City and the reviews so far have been glowing.

The Los Angeles junket crowd are seeing it tonight (Friday) and tomorrow (Saturday), but more regular media screenings won't take place until the week of release (after next week's Comic Con), and reviews aren't allowed to go online until Wednesday the 18th.

That hasn't stopped people tweeting about it. Amongst the NY screening reactions, Tom McAuliffe tweeted "The trilogy is greater than the sum of its parts, and for me the 3rd was the very best part of the whole story. Dark Knight is a classic in its own right – it stands alone, but in this trilogy, and as a closer, this film exceeds. It’s an ending that presents opportunity for thought for sure. Risky/tough story well told, brilliantly acted, great cinematography, awesome score."

Another tweeted about the audience reaction - "As far as audience reaction, there were only 40-50 ppl in attendance (mostly critics), but there was applause and I leaned over and shook Michael Uslan’s hand and congratulated him when his name appeared in the credits. I, myself, cried twice…once out of sadness and once out of pure geeky uncontrollable happiness."

Vince Peluso on Facebook said "Wow. Quite speechless at the moment, but i'll say that TDKR was everything I wanted it to be."

That's not what happens. Batman teams up with Judge Dredd and Robocop to fight the combined forces of Outworld. Then he turns gay and bangs Commissioner Gordon. In the tushy.
