My wife is going with friends to a marathon on Thursday and then the midnight premier.
That sounds like a fucking job.
Avengers got repeat viewings.
Rises won't get as much as The Avengers.
MechDeus - Nick is the Bruce Wayne to Yoshi's Jean-Paul Valley.
I don't think this will touch Avengers.
Dolemite, the Bad-Ass King of all Pimps and Hustlers
Gymkata: I mean look at da lil playah woblin his way into our hearts in the sig awwwwwww
An advantage Avengers has is that children and kids got to drag their parents along to see it and the parents most likely wouldn't object because of it's bright and cartoony look. Batman, on the other hand, may not be as easily acceptable to those parents.
An advantage hat Batman has is true IMAX showings that will be playing for I'd imagine all of summer. Those ticket prices are around $20 and those who want to watch it again and didn't get to see it IMAX may opt for it.
And again, 17 showings (!!!!!!) at one location for midnight release and the majority of it is packed. I don't think Avengers got that treatment.
Forgot about that.
I have to agree it won't get the repeat showing.
But I also think anyone who saw Avenger's more than twice (Let's assume just to go with friends who still needed to see it) are a detriment to films anyways so who cares.
It's not going to get as many repeat viewings if the story is darker and has more weight to it, as that's generally not the kind of thing people want on a quick repeated basis. Avengers goes down easy and comes out light-hearted.
Not to spark a series of comments about the quality of the movies and so on, but Lucas changed the ending of Return of the Jedi to a much happier one specifically to help encourage people to do repeat viewings in the theater. I don't think DKR is going for a feel-good ending, which is going to hurt if you're just looking at financial standings vs. Avengers.
Pretty much.
