My local spot says Saturday.
With Capcom? Yeah. They abandon games as soon as they are finished with it. AE gets attention because it's their most popular fighter worldwide. Ultimate support got dropped HARD after disappointing sales. Unless SFxt sells a lot or the DLC gems are a hit they won't give a fuck.
This will sell. No question.
Marvel got fucked by deadlines and the marvel license and just overall awful planning, or at least that's what I've gathered by reading between the lines of Capcom's PR.
I won't say it won't sell, but I'm not optimistic. Already they are showing some ridiculously overpowered characters. I think the balance of this game will be completely shot to get two different types of games to blend together.
More popular game gets more support than less popular one? Shocking!
Im not sure this will sell. I'm not a Tekken fan so I don't know what they did to appeal to those folks. Thats the bigger audience. All the gems and shit seem wildly unpopular with the SRK crowd but they will probably buy it anyway. I haven't really kept up with news on this for the past few months.
The Tekken characters play like Tekken in 2D. Their moves are similar and so is the timing. Highs/Mids/Lows exist. They've help adapt them so they don't always get kept out by fireballs. Tekken is shit, anyway, but some of these characters are really really strong.
I'd be more worried about tournament organizers. If they drop this or don't get gems, this game won't hit expectations and support will die. As far as non-popular games go, there are plenty of just okay games that didn't sell well that get a lot of support from developers. I can think of maybe two off the top of my head for fighting games alone. Capcom just doesn't believe in that strategy.
The local arcade crowd around here seems like they will just go back to playing SF IV AE maybe a week or two after this drops. We don't have much of a Tekken contingent.
