I'm glad they stopped it with Ultimate. I can't stomach buying all this shit just to compete.

Honestly, after seeing the percentage of buyers who bought DLC in BlazBlue: Continuum Shift being over 50% (!!), I would expect every FG made from now on to be a total DLC-fest:

What percentage of people who bought the game went on to buy DLC for it?

DI: There are a lot of different types of DLC, but new characters are something that really fills a need among users. I'd say over half of the game's purchasers have also bought DLC for it. They say that figure averages out to around 8 percent for games overall.

So yeah, by the time SFxT is done I would expect every non-clone Tekken character (and maybe even some of those) and enough SF characters to match to end up being DLC characters. Yikes.

(Side note: There's also a really interesting set of questions in that interview about how well the game performs in different regions, which really brings home how much Japanese developers overstate the importance of the Japanese marketplace.)

I"ve learned my lesson after that. I bought the DLC because it was ACTUALLY DEVELOPED after the game's release and DOWNLOADED TO MY HARD DRIVE.

Now what happens? Another version with minor tweaks, everything included, additional story modes, and ANOTHER character?

So, no more fighters for me until the "GOTY" editions. Also, thinking more than twice and waiting at least a year before I buy another ARC fighter that touts DLC.

Caught the fingercramps stream last night. ChrisG was using two tekken characters and made the game look really fun.

...which led me to research the pre-order gems...

...which led me to realizing how some of them were just flat out superior to normal gems...

....which led me to swearing off the game completely. This game and Dust514 are so fucking dangerous.

The best part is that it also includes the Calamity Trigger story, so it makes the entire series up to that point completely redundant.
