There's footage of folks playing Nightwing at SDCC, so unless that's just somebody's hand made copy, I assume there's some way to play as established characters.

Best case scenario, even if they have the entire DC roster in there you'll have like five 'types' tops.
I don't see any good way to make something like this work and be interesting.

Okay, I read how it works - there are arenas where you play as some of the DC characters (in addition to your normal character). Batman is a pre-order bonus while others are unlockable in-game. You won't be able to play normally as them though, just in arena matches against other players.
To which I say, why? Wouldn't people rather put up with 9 million Batmans running around than not being able to use him at all? I guess you can probably make a duplicate on your own though.
