^Jyoung you heard about us bitching about it for 2 days now - you were warned!!! The actual gunplay is very good - but its a buggy glitchy mess. They really should just delay the game. Its nowhere near finished and its so close to launch. Beta, sure - but BC2's beta came out 4 months before launch not less than 1.
The knifing spell was hilarious, Conrooks. You both got my tags within a minute of joining the damn game. Humiliation.
I warmed up to Metro just a little bit for what it is. Its not traditional Battlefield at all thats for sure. They should have kept it as an experimental infantry map and not the feature demo for the game. I understand what they were attempting with the map - trying to showcase their new refined inv battles + all the crazy lighting with the flashlights and laser sight gameplay in the darkness.
Im hearing Caspian is the real Battlefield deal. Impressions anyone? Sedition?
I realize now that Op Metro is all about SLOWLY edging your way forward. Very similar to MOH 2010's MP. Try sneaking prone all the way thru the train cars. You can make it all the way to the right most mcom to cover thru the train door/windows. Pretty cool sneaking right thru the middle of the action inside the train hearing the bad guys just outside.

Just finished with the worst Battlefield beta experience I've EVER had on ANY battlefield game. The pc side is worse than the console is. Getting into a game with battlelog is fucking HORRIBLE. Theres no way to check ping, the server browser never refreshes properly. Its almost impossible to get into a game. Quick match gives me a firewall error even when I direct connected.
Once I got into a match, it got worse. No way to change your controls and once I got into the subway, the game chugs to a frame-y halt. The first section of the map ran really well for me, 60 fps(I'm guessing). Once I progressed, total chug. Again, I dunno if its my vid card or a lag issue. Since I can't check, I won't know.
I think I'm gonna hold off on the game till its out and I see what patches and such do. I'm super bummed out about this.

Good lord how could they tank this so badly. They are doing way more harm than good releasing the beta in this state. The internets is asploding with "fuck this shit".
I need to know why the hell they chose this map out of the 9 shipping with the game. Think about all the legendary Battlefield betas' maps (Wake, Oman, Sidi Power Plant, Oasis, Valdez/Arica). I need to know why this map - it cant be the highlight of the bunch, can it?!?!?!

Yes. 9 core BF3 maps plus the 4 from Karkand.
Now that you mention it the 2142 beta was godawful (I kinda liked the map tho) but the full game ended up being incredible. I bought it on faith and loved it.
Its crazy but last year's BC2 looks vastly better than BF3 on consoles. The shadows and backgrounds are too cluttered and not rendered properly. It makes it very hard to see people. I wonder if this is something thats going to change for the full release.

In preparation for BF3, I changed my passwords for Origin to match my old accounts so everything synched, and now I can play BC2 online! Hopped on and was AMAZED how awesome everything ran at max settings. Completely killed anything BF3 was doing. I may start a new character on PC now if BF3 is released in a crappy state.
We always joke about Dice and their crazy betas and bad launch weeks, but this feels different. All the old betas were released waaaaay in advance , y'know, like a REAL beta is. BF3 launch is a month away. A MONTH! This is demo time, not beta. I know this is a server test, but if this isn't an old alpha build, Dice has screwed the pooch.
