Thread: My laptop HDD died

  1. My laptop HDD died

So I booted up my laptop and it didn't detect my HDD nor my operating system, the bios doesn't recognize the HDD either. So I took it out, and plug'd it in a USB/SATA adapter, windows doesn't detect a drive at the end nor do I hear the disc spinning.

I tried putting it in the freezer for a bit (LOL) nothing. I've read somewhere on the net that if I purchase the same logic board for the HDD and switched it, it might work.

I ain't spending 500$ for data recovery, not for the data I have in there.

Any suggestions/recommendations to help me fix this?
I'm always right, even when I'm wrong I'm right.

  2. I know when this happens with Macs you are done, son. The more important thing I know is that the more you try to use the drive the less of a chance that any kind of data recovery will work.

It's really your only option at this point - if it doesn't work sledded, you pretty much need to contact a local service provider or DriveSavers. The local place may be cheaper than $500.

    Is all lost?

  3. Did you go into drive management to access/add the old drive via usb/sata or just go into my computer and hope it would be there? Another way is to go into control panel, device manager, right click disk drives and "scan for changes."

Windows isn't very reliable with plug and play for hdd's via usb/esata.

  4. I'm gonna try to change the logic board on it. Just ordered one on ebay, hopefully it'll do the trick. I'll keep you all posted on further developments!

  5. I am sorry for the loss of your bestiality porn.

  6. It's more the gigs worth of pictures of you sleeping I took during PAX EAST, especially the ones with my dick on your face.

  7. Mine is dead too, I need to get a new one at some point

  8. also fwiw, the freezer trick only works on disks that are in the throes of death and not already dead

it sounds like something got fried on the disks mainboard and it's not getting power, especially if computer bioses won't detect it and it doesn't spin up at all

  9. Use this as the push you need to have a good back-up solution.

  10. Got the logic board, no torx screwdriver small enough... FFFFFFFFFFFFF
