The announcement today was made in part to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the release of the original Phantasy Star Online. It was a online RPG with some persistent features and was released for the Sega Dreamcast in 2000 and later for the PC. The US got a version of the game, Phantasy Star Online: Blue Burst, several years later. So far Sega has announced no other info about the just revealed PC sequel.
