    Welllll it's that time of year again where I watch a horror movie I haven't seen every day next month. I haven't been watching many horror movies this year, mainly because I think I've been saving them up for this month. I've come up with a list of movies that I'm pretty set on watching, but I have a pretty vbig list of stuff I haven't seen that I need help weeding through, and I appreciate your input and suggestions. The numbered list below is the stuff I'd really like to see, the other stuff are just titles I'm considering watching.

  2. I'm going to put some random comments beside certain movies I feel like commenting on in your not set in stone list:

    - The Happening ------ STAY AWAY... FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DON'T MAKE YOURSELF SUFFER THIS MOVIE.
    - Dead Snow ------- Good zombie flick, well worth watching.
    - Fido ------ Another cool zombie flick, I would recommend both movies.
    - Attack of the Killer Tomatoes ----- Attack is alright, but Return is freaking brilliant.
    - Class of Nuke’em High ------- A classic in the cheesy horror tradition.
    - Toxic Avenger Part 2 ----- You can't go wrong with any Toxie movies.
    - Return of the Living Dead 2 ------ My personal favorite of the Return series. Great movie.
    - Night of the Lepus ---- I randomly caught this one night on TV in HS. So horribly bad it's hilarious.
    - Wolf Creek ----- You will fear Aussies after watching this movie.
    - Anti Christ ----- FUCK. FUCKING HELL THIS MOVIE IS FUCKED UP
    - Wild Zero ----- Pure unadulterated awesome.
    - One Missed Call ------- Original Japanese version was decent, american remake was terrible.
    - Tokyo Gore Police ------- Fun flick, but I think you have better choices.
    - Pet Shop of Horrors ----- Which one? The corman or the later one? Either way, great movie.
    - Hausu ---- I've hard good things but not seen it myself, need to get on that.
    - Wolf Man ----- The recent remake? If so, avoid. If the original, it's good stuff.
    - The Fly ---- Again which version? The old 50s one is so cheesy now it's pretty unwatchable.
    - The Changeling ------ The angelina jolie flick? If so, resounding meh, it wasn't that great.
    - Cujo ------- Still a great flick
    - House ----- Decent, House 2 is all around better although not a horror movie at all.
    - Nightmare on Elm Street 5 ------ Meh, once you get past 3 they're not worth the time. Aside from New Nightmare.
    - Creepshow 2 ----- I liked the creepshow movies as a kid, haven't seen them since.
    - Poltergeist ----- This movie raped my childhood and inspired an eternal fear of trees and clown dolls... HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
    - Children of the Corn ------ I remember liking this, but it's been a while.
    - Pumpkinhead ----- Another one I liked but it's been a while.
    - Hellbound: Hellraiser 2 ------ The best of the Hellraiser movies by far, watch this one and don't watch any others.
    - The Dead Zone ----- Not really much of a horror movie IMO. Good movie, but I don't think it's horror.
    - Jason Goes to Hell ----- Cheesy, kind of fun but you have better choices.
    - The People Under the Stairs ------ I like this movie... weird craven at his best.
    - Swamp Thing ----- Not as good as my childhood memories of it... I wish I hadn't rewatched it recently.
    - The Gate ---- I liked this as a kid and watched it again recently and still think it's good stuff.
    You sir, are a hideous hermaphroditical character which has neither the force and firmness of a man, nor the gentleness and sensibility of a woman.

  3. That's a solid list overall. If that is Cronenbergs The Fly I'll cut you for not watching it yet. Good call on Black Sabbath.

    Also there is a podcast called Show Show which does this and does a podcast reviewing what they watched every day for all of October. Its good shit.

  4. From beyond was a real treat for me, it's everything I love about 80s horror movies. Also night of the demon is pretty fucking amazing, the ending is just wow.

  5. I saw Martyrs yesterday. You should all see it. Not because it's so amazing, but because it's different.

  6. I watched Martyrs last year and I really disliked it. Everyone told my about how smart and different it was, then I go to watch it and it has me for a bit, but then it just kind of devolves into miserable torture porn gussied up with some transcendental tinsel. When the girl gets skinned I was pretty really surprised they didn't just wheel her under a heat lamp and leave her there.

  7. I didn't like the whole first half. Thought they should have spent more time explaining the entire crux of the fucking movie rather than split it into essentially 2 short films.

  8. It is definitely uneven. The payoff of the movie at the end isn't well enough thought out warrant the pounding the characters get. It just seems brutal for the sake of being brutal.

  9. That's kind of the point though...

    I loved it, it was beautifully shot and scored, well acted and the sense of dread was palpable, not because its super brainy or incredibly deep. I think it's much better on a second viewing because you can just switch off your brain and not worry about trying to figure out what the hell is going on. I think the way it hops horror sub-genres for the first half of the film does it a disservice on its first viewing.

    It's Oct 1st today in Australia! I will be watching a critically acclaimed Austrian serial killer flick called Angst.

  10. I will be catching up with the rest of the world and watching Let The Right One In. Saturday I'm watching Cabin Fever and Sunday, Lucio Fulci's The Beyond.

    Also, so this isn't a complete waste of time, I'll be writing my impressions every day on a website that's willing to actually pay me to do it. Here's the intro.
