Screen: Let's you toggle between different display modes. Again, TATE is highly recommended. Difficulty: Self-explanatory. Please leave at default (three full squares) for the purposes of this competition. Wait: Leaving this option on will preserve the slowdown found in the arcade version, whereas turning it off should have the game running at a constant rate. Feel free to choose whichever you like for this competition.
Everything else requires no explanation. Basic gameplay information:
Sidling up against enemies and bullets will increase your 'tension' and net you higher multipliers. You will see the 'aura' around your character change colour as the tension rating increases or decreases. At maximum, your character will glow red and sparkle a bit, and you will also hear a quiet high-pitched tone in the background.
Holding down your shot button (z) will launch your Shikigami attack. Movement will be slowed but coins will also syphon directly toward your character. Sidling up against bullets and enemies will also briefly increase the power of your main shot. A bomb is also available and is triggered by pressing X.
I believe that about covers it. I'd like to hear from some of the more experienced players on this one, however.
And a note: apparently the PC and console versions are very much not the same. According to Ex_mosquito, the console (PS2, specifically) version has much shorter stages for 1-1 and 2-1. Meaning console players aren't likely to have much luck assailing PC demo scores.
