    This is a great flick, but there are a lot of other studio bands with a major legacy that deserve the same. Motown are the kings of pop soul, but I was always a big fan of the funky deep soul sound of the Fame Gang/Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section at Fame Studios in Alabama. Motown and Stax get a lot of credit these days, but the Fame Gang and producer Rick Hall turned out a hell of a lot of great songs, including a TON of big, big hits, stuff like:









    To name but a small fraction of their recognizable classic tunes.
