Four kings is really the only gear/SL check in the game. SLone do you just run in real close with as much armor you can wear and spam pyro combustion?

There's a few different strategies on the Dark Souls wiki.

Weapons and armor, yeah. Not much else.

I imagine it would make leveling up your pyro hand a breeze, which would definitely be a valuable tool to a low level character.

Yeah, I had a +10 pyro flame and a +7 re-enforced club before the Capra demon.
