The Circumcision Issue - Pros and Cons

Well, Here is the story:

DJ just started his summer camp, and while there they are going swimming on the regular bases. And after the swimming they have to use showers to clean up, but he was feeling somewhat shy to going there. When we asked him why, he said since he is not circumcised, he afraid the other kids would laugh at him, because he somewhat different.

Since me and DJ are from Russia, and the circumcision practices there are not done often(except of the religious or cultural purposes, for example jewish), and neither me or him are circumcised. The majority of men in USA are circumcised at birth though.

I have no problems with my state, and neither my wife

, but DJ might be a different story. He was afraid to be laughed at, but since we spoke, he is more comfident about it.

So what is your thoughts on this topic?

i'm not... and i'm from the US...

... it's just become an accepted thing to be circumsized at birth... why? i dunno... it's not even required in most religions...

tell DJ that if kids laugh at him, just say "well why the hell are you staring at my wang anyways?"

I don't know what the big deal is. I'm Jewish, and as such, was circumcised as a young'un. I suppose it was done to maintain constancy with Jewish relegious law. Here's the thing though...I believe in Jesus Christ as the Son of the Most High God. And believe everything in the New Testament...which means that circumcision isn't even required by relegious law anymore.

And FirstBlood is right...what are they doing looking at his wang?

Tell DJ not to be ashamed. Screw everyone else.

I havew no idea what the pros and cons of it are since I was circumsized at birth. I just know its a bit disturbing watching a porn flick and the cameraman wants to focus on a guy's uncircumsized schlong for 10 minutes as if to make a spectacle of it.

Anyway, sorry of topic rant, just tell him to ask them what the hell they're doing staring at his johnson.

I'm not, and used to be a little reserved about it as well. Thing is, I never ran into any circumstance where I was laughed at or teased. So, I outgrew the insecurity.
Use that story with him, if you feel like it.

I think you did the best thing you could do Despair, and that was talking with him about the issue. I was always too embarassed to talk about things like that with my Dad. Looking back though, I don't know why I was like that. I think if I would have talked to him I would have felt much better about certain things.

As far as the circumcized/uncircumcized issue goes, everybody has their own thing. I don't really feel strongly one way or the other about it.
