The Wii U version has a bunch of Nintendo characters available to use.

When the original DS version came out in Japan it was published by Konami and they threw in Vic Viper, Snake, and a few others.

Exactly. What that guy showed was only one solution, if you can think of a better (or just different) way to scare off a bee and get over a pond then you can probably do it. It's not a limited one-way-is-the-only-way kind of game.

The actual gameplay itself is extremely janky.

Just mentioned they were in there, nothing else. Honestly it's the kind of distraction that works better on handhelds, ios, and the Wii U tablet. It's something you kick back on the couch with, mouse and keyboard seem a wrong fit.
