I'm probably swinging by my local WalMart at 6AM this morning. I called the electronics section to see if it was completely reserved or if they had any, and the guy didn't have the slightest idea.
Alternately, it's a Sunday, and maybe I'll just go to bed and stay there. Decisions, decisions...

Am I the only one that thinks this whole thing looks bootleg? I"m reading that the touch screen is last gen and lasts about 3-3 1/2 hours on a charge. I saw Reggie try to sell Mario U on Jimmy Fallon and it's the 3 year old game with a bumped up resolution. None of the games even look that good. Maybe they're just rushed (Batman is said to have a worse framerate than all other versions).

Got mine tonight. I had no issues since I put it on layaway at a local WalMart. There was a line of 20 people but they only had 4 Deluxe and 2 Standard available for non pre-sale. Apparently there are already long lines at Target, Best Buy and Toys R Us....
Anyway, the setup is rather simple and the Control Pad is slick; however, if you elect to perform the system update, be prepared to wait a very long time for it to complete.

I've pretty much already decided sleep is better than a Wii U, but that description of the WalMart line helps, thanks. Screw it, I'll get mine in a couple weeks when my reservation comes in.

It sounds like a number of online preorders for this got bumped back. Nintendo was just saying a month ago that factory issues would not be affecting launch, not seeing it.

We got a Deluxe at midnight with no struggle. Long ass system update! OS is very slow. Played a bit of NintendoLand and Mario, the former of which is way better than Wii Sports though still nothing great. Using the Wii U pad in multiplayer in NSMB forces that player to, uh, not play and just slam stupid blocks all over the screen. Shame, since we only had three Wiimotes. The video feed to the pad is pretty decent, though the compression artifacts are visible from time to time. Looking forward to playing Mario singleplayer, but that might wait until after I finish Halo 4.

Walked into Best Buy at around 12:20 and immediately purchased a Basic Set and a copy of New Super Mario Bros. U at the Customer Service Desk.
