This is some ugly stuff:

It's worth bearing in mind that GameCube and Wii sales only ebbed that low right before their successor consoles came out - not three months after their launch, as the Wii U has done.

Other figures also need context: the original Xbox's lowest point was just before that console's price cut, PlayStation 3 was significantly higher priced than Wii U, while PS2's lowest ever week was likely due to post-launch stock shortages.

The original Xbox was a dvd player if you had the remote. It's a chart based on how easily the console could play dvds. The Wii had a dvd player capable console planned but never released, so it just edges out the WiiU which was never intended to play dvds, which edges out the Gamecube which couldn't play dvds because of those tiny disks, unless you count the Panasonic Q, which wasn't released in the US so it doesn't count.

I just got home and popped in MonHunUlt.
After popping in the disc, it said there was an update available. I chose to d/l it. It gave me an error. I then exited and tried to open the eshop to make sure it wasnt my connection. Eshop was fine.
Tried getting the update again, same error. Opened up amazon video. Took a while, but it finally connected. I exited and tried getting the update again. This time it worked.
Twenty minutes later, the update is downloaded and installed.
Game starts...or does it?
I am met with a title screen, and stuck there. The fucking WIIU has frozen. I had to unplug it and start over.

TL;DR version: wiiu is garbage.
