Anecdotally, most of the people (or a surprisingly large chunk of them) that I know with Wiis don't even play games anymore. They got swept up in buying one.
Not when you can play free shitty games on your cell phone

It was definitely a bad name choice, as was the Wii IMHO.
Kudos to Nintendo for selling a system to the beanie baby and fur by crowd.
"Omg, the morning show said this was rare so I need one"
"Wii" worked because old people could remember it, it was short, the name was instantly recognizable in print, and there wasn't anything attached to it, like a stupid "U". People who didn't know an Eks Box or a Play-Station from a Casio Loopy will still respond to "Wii". It was a great choice whether it was an accident or there was a process behind it. You'd think that someone or a team of someones who knew what they were doing came up with it after going through a lot of choices, but then they arrived at "Wii U", which seems like it was just the worst name that the dart could've hit.
"new 3DS" is going to be the same thing if they don't figure something else out in the west. At Thanksgiving dinner, my 70-something year old aunt asked what a good gaming system for kids at her church would be and my brother and i said "Wii U", to which she responded, "Oh, a Wii?" If you go to Target and ask for a "Wii", you're going to get a Wii Mini unless the Target Person knows better and has the balls to suggest that you probably want a "Wii U"
Donk
If I ask for a Wii, I want a Wii.
Plus, no Target Person is not asking this because Wiis are barely moving off the shelves
They probably are asking "You sure you don't want an Xbox One or PS4?" though

Mariokart is beautiful. I want to run around and explore all of the stages. Such amazing "world" design.
I haven't opened nintendoland or super mario 3D world yet.
