Thread: Need For Speed: The Run

  1. Need For Speed: The Run

Coming November to 360/PS3/PC. Developed by Black Box so I'm probably going to wait for reviews.

Story driven cross country run from California to New York. The premise is neat, and I love open road races instead of tracks, but wish Criterion was working on it.

  2. Could be cool!

  3. Skate 2 is better than any NFS. Hopefully the same folks who made that are doing this.

  4. Cops and no Barbie dress up or GTFO.

edit: The trailer gets it right at least.

  5. After playing Burnout Paradise and feeling so fucking trapped a cross country race sounds like a nice idea.

  6. Cross country reminds me of Outrun/Outrunners/Rad Mobile. Good times.

  7. This is going to use the Battlefield 3 engine. That's going to be amazing.

I played the 360 demo for this, and it looks like good times! It plays like last year's Hot Pursuit, but with a story mode. For better or worse, it doesn't really punish you for fucking up, which is good since in the snow level there are a lot of hard to avoid crashes. The game has sort of a checkpoint system for when you wreck so you don't have to start over. The snow level was pretty insane, racing on ice with a frickin' Lamborghini with someone shooting shit into the the mountains to cause avalanches, and it's very easy to slide off the mountain to your doom.

The graphics of the cars and environments are amazing, but the model of the main character looks like a PS2 GTA reject. I am also worried at the teaser screen that says something about following the dude "on foot."

You didn't see all the out of car QTEs?

There weren't any in the demo. I haven't paid attention to trailers.
