If it matters, the original Xbox was hard region locked. So you couldn't import at all unless you modded. I imported one DMC clone game and it was terrible. 360 the region is left up to the publisher. I didn't bother importing anything. With Microsoft having totally given up on Japan, it's pretty unlikely there will be anything worth the trouble.

I didn't. The closest I've come to buying off those was using a Japanese PSN account to help download titles from Sony's promo after they got hacked. In fact, the only other thing I ever used my Japanese account for was a couple demos.

I care about the portables being region locked because those are more likely to get quirky low budget Japanese titles that I'd be interested in and are more likely to not get brought over, but the consoles have gotten better to the point of region locking not really mattering to me anymore. When it looked like the Wii wasn't going to get that trilogy of good JRPGs they were worth importing from Europe, but that's the only "big" thing that I would've felt I was missing out on.

I gotcha. I'm curious how many ppl are out there that really put their $$$ where their mouth is on this topic? I guess some folks might sleep easier knowing that no one knows their buying habits? But outside of crazy Constitutionalists living in their fantasy lands, who are these folks? I had no intention of going into this generation hating what MS was going to put out. I didn't even allow the rumors going around to sway any sort of judgment. And while region locking isn't something I personally care about, MS has done just about everything they could to make me truly not give a rats ass about the One. When MS falls, I wonder who will rise to take their place?

I'm going to wait a year or so before considering jumping in to the next gen of consoles. I think i'd rather play games on my non-spying PC unless there are crazy console exclusives i need, but judging from this generation i don't think that will be a problem.
