Thread: Official Xbox One Thread

  1. What's funny is seemingly no desire to look attractive to an international audience. All this cablecard stuff and original TV content is very, very, very US-Centric. Throwing in the towel on the East is probably reasonable, but Europe has no reason at all thus far to cotton to what's been shown. Hell, even Canada probably won't be able to make use of much of the multimedia features that have been shown off.

There was also definitely a little arrogance riding into this conference. They did not come prepared with clarifying statements, assuages or anything of the sort. In fact, the whole thing reeked of one of those old school "Just one more thing" Apple pressers. They came to show, not to tell, and in all honesty they should have come with a concise, singular message and a whole lot of answers for questions they knew were going to be asked. Instead, we got a media clusterfuck of one MS rep saying one thing, then have to have his boss clarify those statements in Twitter, etc. What we ended up with was a whole lot of "We don't have the details now, but trust us, they're coming."

  2. MS conferences are always amateur hour. Remember that Surface one where they didn't show a working device and then didn't say a damn thing more about it for six months?

They need to get tapes of every Steve Jobs conference and study them like the Torah.

  3. There are still plenty of third party pads for 360.

  4. There are a lot of sandy, hot messes in here...

  5. I don't get why anyone would want this console, but more power to them if they have no problem with its utter contempt for the consumer.

I think you're confusing your thoughts of MS with MS' thoughts of potential buyers.

Not sure where you are getting this idea from. MS is just plowing forward with all of the media connections they've been making. Sky TV is one of the bigger media providers in the UK and it's been on 360 for awhile now. They got all sorts of deals being worked on to push this forward.

I don't have contempt for Microsoft. What I'm saying is that MS views the consumer not only as a data mine to be tapped, but also as a naughty child to be restrained lest they misuse the things they buy in ways they haven't been granted digital permission for.

It probably will, but if they even remotely cared about countries outside of the USA they would have at least used the NBA over the NFL. Simply since it is far more popular internationally, how popular the Game Time app already on Xbox360 is, and the fact most other 1st world countries worship soccer or have superior "football" sports that aren't drawn-out jock chess.

Wasn't the Xbox360 a huge success in Europe? Over even the PS3 and Wii?
