It's strange cause I have left it in standby for hours with no issue, but this time it wasn't on standby for more than 15-20 minutes.

Sounds like a GPU issues, I wonder if it's having similar issues the Wii originally had. When it first came out and was in standby mode the fan would never kick in to cool the chip down and it was fucking up GPUs and causing artifacting. Wonder if it's similar here.

I've never noticed any heat coming from the system while in standby at all. Maybe it could be during background downloading while in standby.

Well the initialization didn't do jack squat, but I expected that. We'll see if leaving it off for a few hours gives it a little life at least until I get my coffin. I'd had that issue with a 360 where I could play it one night only to have it RROD the next day.

on the plus side, it appears I can finally join friend play BF from the commander app, so I can at least still play that and use the PS4 to chat with my friends in a party while I have it.

Well my PS4 is broke. It has graphical artifacts that jump up all over the screen and freezes or crashed every time I try to load a game. I am trying a initialization to see if it helps at all, but there are artifacts on the screen when that is going on. Already contacted Sony and they are sending me a box to ship it back in, but damn does this suck. Had no signs of anything wrong with it before. Just booted it up from standby mode and when I tried to load BF4, it started acting up. Guess I am the unlucky 1%

Shame about your PS4, ElCapichan. Hopefully it gets fixed/replaced quickly.

So if anyone has a PS Plus account and is going to get a PS4 in the future, make sure you logon to the SEN network and "purchase" the free games each month. This will mean you can download them once you get a PS4.

They're just subsidizing it by making PC parts cost more. I don't own a PS4, why am I paying to help other people get consoles? I can't wait for this whole system to fall apart.
