If it's Fulfilled by Amazon, then it's covered by Amazon's return policy. Just send it back to them and ask for a new system or get a refund.
So it looks like mine is a dud; Unpacked it, plugged it in, and off the bat it wouldn't really turn on right. At first it outright refused, the second time it turned on and them off immediately. I thought maybe it was just an HDMI issue. Third time it booted up with a white light. Set up the console, downloaded and installed the update, it restarted and I was in the process of linking my PSN and Facebook to the console, and it just went off by itself. Like just turned right off.
Wouldn't turn back on until about 3 minutes later. Persistent blue pulsing light. The kiss of death. Tried to boot in safe mode; no go. If I hold the power button long enough it just signals it to turn back off. I went to far as to make use of the best "solution" Google could find and removed the hard drive, waited, and tried to boot into safe mode. Still nothing. Looks like this thing is fucked. This thing came from a seller on Amazon and was "Fulfilled by Amazon" but now I'm imagining the nightmare of RMAing this thing either back to them or Sony.
Not a good start![]()

Return it from Amazon and buy it at a B&M. That's how I got a replacement XO in about 5 hours.
I already have a Sony Coffin on the way. If I'm lucky it'll be here by Friday. The good news is that once scanned by a FedEx location Sony sends the replacement right away without waiting for mine to show up. Alternatively any nearby Sony Store would give me a new one, but I'm guessing that would require a PS4 in stock. I'm glad it's going to be relatively efficient but it also tells me they have plenty of experience with this since launch.
That's not a bad thing though. It doesn't mean that it happens a ton, it just means that they came up with an efficient process beforehand
Had a PS4 traded in yesterday.
Even at half price, I have no interest in this thing.
Just thought I'd share.
Was it 3 people on TNL who had to get replacements now? Yes, I know that means nothing.
I wonder what's actually causing the problems. defective parts, manufacturing error, or just completely random things.
