Hitoshi Sakimoto did some nice stuff on the Genesis (Gauntlet 4, Devilish, Midnight Resistance). Jesper Kyd stuff was different (Batman and Robin, Sub-Terrania and others). I think the Technosoft stuff was good too (Thunderforce 4 especially).

I have a Model 2.
I always thought the sound was abysmal on my Genesis.
I haven't played a physical Genesis in years. How close is the music emulation in the XBLA releases? I've never seen anyone bitch about the music, so I'm guessing their emulating the first gen Genesis pretty well.
XBLA Streets of Rage 2 has shitty music quality and some glitched sound effects. Definitely a bad port.
I think XBLA Golden Axe was the same way, but I just played that a few times at a friend's house, so I can't say for sure.
I thought some of the sound effects in SoR2 sounded wonky, but I was never sure if it was just me or not. Good to know.
I had a few different models over the years.
My first Genesis was a CDX. I've owned various Genesi over the years, everything from a Mega Jet to X'Eye.
I currently have a CDX (probably my fifth one), a Laseractive, and a non TSS High Def model 1.
They all have awesome sound.
