Why so many televisions?
If his brother and sister want to watch Ponyo in the family room, they have to have separate TVs and video players and all watch their own discs legally obtained downloads!

Except that's not how it works. What happens if you suddenly get sick and decide, you know what I'd rather have a working drawing hand than all those video games. With physical media nothing is stopping you from selling it. Good luck selling your DD's to pay off the medical bill to save your hand.
A car is no different than a movie, or a video game. I would imagine you have no problem selling a car you didn't want any more?
If you buy something you should have the right to sell it. Its not even about being able to buy something used. I buy probably 95% of my movies, and 85% of my games new, but if I decide I don't want them I should have the right to sell them. Hell if I buy a movie or game I don't like I should be able to sell it.
Or just don't spend a bunch of money on that stuff in the first place if you're living on the edge? There's not this "right to buy shit".
