Only watched MK final, SFxT final and Top 8 for AE but man there was some good stuff in there. Look forward to seeing the others, seems like it was a pretty good Evo this year.
Yeah, KoF and UMVC3 were definitely the highlights. AE had some more amazing matches before the grand finals, but Infiltration just cleaned up in the GF.
The vomit from SFxT is crusted onto the carpet![]()

2013 Games Beat: 13
1 Zero in top 8, only a few Dante in top 32. Zero is not the best in the game right now, Dante is only high tier, not top. MODOK is GOD!

I'm telling you, once people really figure him out he'll be all over the place.
I was saying this last year on SRK and was laughed out the door.
He's just a fucking uncomfortable character to play.
He's super comfortable. He is easy to do strong mixups, has easy 1 button solutions to alot, and has easy kill combos.
Dorm has better solo mixups, better runaway, better chip, a better air move (air S), more self damage off throws, and most importantly, he is the only character in the game that can control that top superjump corner. Dorm is the awkward amazing character, Zero is actually, in marvel terms mid level. There were plenty and they got wasted. I can't put my self mixups on people if they are playing patient when I am zero, I need assists, and even then it can be tough. And when those infinites find their way in, that means every time you kill a character, you will have 5 meter dorm waiting. Which means 5 stalker flames. Which means a dead character and like a meter left over. So one hit = 2 dead characters.
Zero's BEST thing right now is that lightning loop, if everyone eventually kills for one hit, it won't matter.

Sorry for not responding sooner folks -- been too busy working on the production side of things: http://www.youtube.com/bahnism (Entire FGC playlist is here: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list...6&feature=plcp)
Yeah. I haven't been actually playing SOLID Akuma's with her. LOL. It's ok -- just gives me more reason to train harder at Big Two sometime this Fall when I head down to NY!
I just didn't do anything stupid and reckless. Better to just focus on playing as solid as possible. Infiltration is just very solid, technical and on point! GGs! It was still a great experience, hype to be on stream and play against one of the well-known players in the scene!
Here's a brief sample from the EVO stuff:

did bala losing kof kill competitive kof in america??? did an entire nation take the L that hard??? apparently for two weeks straight nobody has shown up to the thursday night tournaments for it streamed by level up
e: week 1 was kind of expected since everybody was either still in vegas or decompressing from the tournament but 2 in a row...

I can't really speak for SoCal specifically but you see a pretty hard drop-off in attendance at weeklies right after a major -- players (especially not-so-top players, where Evo was one of only a couple of big events they go to, if not the ONLY one) had a date and an event to train for... and now they do not, and they're not going to have one in the immediate future (how many notable events are going on in the next month or so? I know there's Summer Jam in Philly and...?).
I know VF5:FS was getting over 30 at WNF right before Evo but now they're struggling to break 20, and numbers for UMvC3 and SSF4:AE have been down as well. XIII has taken a hilarious hit though (and wait until the shirt monsters next year at Evo are wearing Persona 4 Arena shirts).
yeah I think the only reason vf5 is staying that high is because people want to try and get geralds money
the zero player turnout for kof13 is still hilarious as hell though and it just makes me imagine that the entirety of mexico got so disenchanted by bala's 2nd place win that they all gave up on the game in unison and therefore crumbled the competitive american scene
