Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light - Pretty neat, though playing on PC with keyboard is an exercise in pain lol

It's ridiculous how quick and intuitive it is to flutter through the jillions of options Nippon Ichi presents in each offering. Not one press of "X" is wasted.
Compare to Eternal Poison which asks you, after you've already moved and attacked, to highlight your character, open a menu, and select "Wait" as if there were anything else I could do. It also has one of the more grating, loud, and persistent confirmation noises ever. There is, I think, a great game somewhere in here if you can stomach the arcane criteria for 100%-ing it that dog$ was talking about.

i'm mostly just playing METAL SLUG lately
i'm gonna kill that general
Metal Slug's scoring system is pretty great. One of the only run-and-guns with a non-broken one, really.
I was reading a shmups thread where some people were getting upset about a few areas where you can milk a bunch of points, but that's not a huge deal to me. I was surprised when I read about some of the things you can do for score.
i just wanna clear this thing, right now
I don't think there's ever been a time when Metal Slug hasn't occupied one of the slots in my MVS cab. I ♥ that game.
"All creatures will DIE, and all things will be BROKEN: That is the law of the SAMURAI."
One thing I liked about the Saturn port of MS1 was how the side missions encouraged you to learn all of the levels inside-out and eventually clear them all on one life. Eventually the game expected you to 1-life clear all stages together. I think I got to Stage 6 once.
re EP: It's not even about 100%ing the game, it's about seeing the actual ending.
I can 1-life to stage six. The hardest thing up to that point is the beginning stretch of stage 3 where you need to be sure to conserve heavy machine gun ammo and not fuck up the fight against the bald guy. If I can do that, I'm usually okay to the final stage.
Tetris TGM 2 TAP: IMO, this one is way harder than TGM 3. After raping the hold button a lot in TGM3, I kept forgetting a few times about the lack of it here and reaching for a D button that did jack. *facepalm* No luck breaking level 500.
TGM 3: Cracked level 900 last night using classic rule but topped out after a few more pieces. The Master roll challenge is getting closer. Reaching that will be good for something even if I totally blow it there. I'll forget TGM2 for now and concentrate on this.
Finished in 2021: 8 games (PC: 4, PS4: 2, PS3: 1, X1: 1)
