NoA has been a pile of trash for a few years now. The same goes for several other American wings of Japanese publishers. We used to get all sorts of localizations and now we have to hope that even the safest bets make it over.

Fixed. Remember the third party publishing limits from the NES days? How about the SNES censorship? Yeah...

  3. They were pretty decent around the Gamecube, if I remember right. NoA would never do anything like the Wind Waker pre-order bonus now.

This thread got me to dust off my Dolphin Xenoblade installation and play some more.

  4. Nintendo when it's desperate for attention is a pretty good company. They take risks, try all sorts of experiments, and in general let their devs go nuts in an attempt to find anything that sticks. When they're on top, or even doing decently, they just stop trying.

It's weird, I bought Xenoblade but have only played it once. I'm strongly considering going Dolphin on this, which I've never used before I should mention, so I can play it on PC. I think I'd really enjoy Xenoblade if I didn't have to fire up the Wii to play it. I know, that makes no sense.

    Sure it does.

I agree. That of course was the only time I was pulling for them...

  7. FINALLY finished this after what seems like an eternity of playing. Reached level 82 before facing the final boss. Really enjoyed the game, although fatigue was starting to creep in. Great final boss battle, great ending, although the framerate takes some significant dips during the final sequence due to the game spewing out more special effects that the system can handle.

You do become overleveled during the first half of the game, but it does equalize later, specifically after the event where the High Entia are devolved to Telethia. Also, some of the named mobs actually require some over-levelling to even be able to stand a chance against their attacks.

There's still a bit of content left over: many quests, areas to explore, and the optional superbosses. I'll probably tackle those after some time.

  8. I personally can't wait to be strong enough to take down the megabeasts of the Bionis' Leg.

    "Immovable Gonzales", in particular.

  9. The low battery warning icon has been present for all twenty hours I've spent playing this game. HOW LOW CAN YOU BE, BATTERY?

  10. YOU MUST SUFFER MORE.

Does anyone play this with the Japanese voices? They seem pretty generic and in-battle dialogue is not subtitled (in some situations the characters will let you know audibly when they are in dire straits, also some of the conversations can be funny).
