Seriously, The Pentagram predates Satanism. It's like, 3,000 BC shit.
Don't be so ignant. Shit be so distorted.
I want a pentagram tattooed on my knuckle. It has nothing to do with satan.
Boo, Hiss.

Yes, I know it was originally a pagan symbol for wisdom. Likewise, the swastika originated in ancient India with a benevolent meaning (luck, in its case) before being co-opted by a large enough movement to successfully redefine it. (Although in the pentagram's case, this was done not by the Satanists using it, but by the church saying they did as a way of demonizing the pagans. This is also the reason our contemporary image of demons matches that of prominent pagan gods.)
None of that nullifies the fact that in America in the year 2011, if you go around wearing a pentagram, the message you're putting out to 90% of the people who see you is "hail Satan," and that's what a goodly portion of the people buying them want.

You know who else got a bad rap by authorities that never admit they're wrong? Satan.
