I borrowed money from family occasionally when I was younger, but I'd usually have it paid back within a week or two. I despise owing people anything, leaves a bad impression in everyone's mind as far as I can tell. I will gladly lend people money when they need it and I have the means, but semi-recent experiences have even cut that down a lot.

I've never borrowed but I've been the lendee lately. Family stuff that needed some quick resolutions so I don't mind (no money returned).

I have a friend (who I won't give shit to anymore) who works on a fucking bartering system like it's 1611. I think he picked it up from his grandfather and father. He'd never want to pay the money back directly, give you back stuff in exchange. "I don't have that money but I can give you this book and some food my mom gave me." Ugh.
