Thread: Looking to Build a Desktop

  1. OK I think I nailed down this PC, will be for gaming/vr/htpc. Still undecided on the hard drive and GPU but that can wait a little bit. Will start ordering parts soon.

  2. Get the R5-1600 instead. It'll overclock the same as the 1600X.

  3. Hmm, good call. I didn't realize the 1600 is as OC-able as it is and it comes with a cooler. Saves $130.

  4. Apparently buying a GeForce card now gets you a free copy of Destiny 2.

    Gross.

  5. I got a free copy of Ghost Recon: Wildlands (the other choice was For Honor) with my GTX 1080. It's not that great of a game either.

  6. I like Wildlands a lot

  7. It's just okay to me. It feels like a lesser version of Far Cry 4, with a need to be more stealthy.

  8. Looking to Build a Desktop

System built! Basically what I put up there but with a Ryzen 1600, two slightly more affordable hard drives (960 evo and Crucial MX300 SSD), and a better reviewed power supply also from Silverstone.

Ive only tested it with Just Cause 3 and 3DMark and so far so good, although I kept crashing at Time Spy so I’m keeping an eye on temps. It seems fine though. I bought a mini-ITX case but there was plenty of room and it was easy to work with.

  9. the most important questions... What case did you use?
look here, upon a sig graveyard.

  10. The one I mentioned above... Fractal Design Define Nano S. It’s a little bigger than I wanted but I figured it’s a trade off for being a bit easier to work with. It has tons of room.
