    The Impression That I Get

I like the music in this song and the emotions it fuels. From the opening chords, when you listen to it you feel good, you feel lucky!

But paying attention to the lyrics, they're absolute shit. Confusing, lazy poetry. Meaningless.

Have you ever felt a pain so powerful,
    So heavy you collapse
I've never had to knock on wood
But I know someone who has
Which makes me wonder if I could

What? No. I've never met anyone that came out of a car wreck all paraplegic and shit and some other guy was like "I've never been in a wreck. Knock on wood!" And I sure as Hell never dwelled on the idea that I never said a meaningless phrase to ward of magical fate monsters to the point I wondered if I could even do it! What the fuck is he going on about? What the fuck are they trying to say? Are these lyrics filler for a song that should have remained instrumental?

I've never had to knock on wood
    And I'm glad I haven't yet
Because I'm sure it isn't good
that's the impression that I get

Apparently you never had to write lyrics for a song where you didn't need them, either.

I think this was just a very confused but otherwise talented group of musicians.

    Good song. Shit lyrics.

    Fun to sing, though!

Except for that guy whose only job was to jump around on stage and look like a jackass.

I love the Bosstones and have seen them in concert many times.
It's all about the music and chorus with them though.

Lyrics are the least important part of a song to musicians. It's you Philistines that think lyrics are important... Because you can't appreciate a good riff.

It's a perfectly acceptable term when used to describe the casual music listener. Suck my ass.

Yes, because music can't possibly have a deeper meaning than a catchy tune.

Of course it can, he's just saying it doesn't HAVE to.
