Favorite Movie Villains

What are your favorite villains from a movie?
(try to avoid adaptations and bios... even though I did include two because of their outstanding performances, but whatevs!)

1. Anton Chigurh - No Country for Old Men - Javier Bardem
2. Frank - Once Upon a Time in the West - Henry Fonda
3. The Wicked Witch of the West - The Wizard of Oz - Margaret Hamilton
4. Freddy Krueger - A Nightmare on Elm Street - Robert Englund
5. Simon Phoenix - Demolition Man - Wesley Snipes

For a villain to be truely great, they need to be powerful, ruthless, and brilliant. Anton Chigurh came on the screen as the epitome of this. Neither him nor Freddy Kruger would I want to be in a room with. But at least if I can get out of the room, or wake up, I can escape Freddy. Chigurh will always get you, soon or later. Sometimes, I like 'em funny, too. Like Freddy. Or an absolute asshole, like Frank, or Simon. And sometimes I secretly desire them, like the Witch. I was always troubled as a child by that bitch.

You stole my Frank. He's probably my favorite. I like villains who don't see themselves as villains.

Yeah, I was thinking about making a second thread for monsters. I know I have the Witch and Freddy up there, which are monsters, too. But the actors made those parts. The Terminator, Darth Vader, and The Shark, are all great villains, too. But, they were a collaboration of special effects and other elements more so than the actor.


I'm not going to be picky, put whatever you consider to be a frightening villain in here.
