#43 - Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (DS)
Hadn't played it since it was first released. Remembered some of it, but a lot was surprising. There's a police dog called Missile! I also clearly remember the 5th, DS only case having some bad character design and a worse translation than the rest of the game, but playing it now it seemed fine. I liked the characters and the translation was about the same as the rest of the game. What the fuck was I thinking the first time I played this?

7. Sonic CD (XBLA) - OK game, had never played this one but played a fair amount of Sonic 1 and 2 back in the day. I can see how the time travel aspect is kind of cool for those who are really into this game. For me, these are probably the kinds of games where I should realize the nostalgia is better than the reality.
Currently Playing:
The Saboteur (360)
55. The Amazing Spider-Man
Platinum. Beat it on Super-Hero, did all challenges, found 700/700 comics, completed concept art bank. Pretty fun. Throwback to the Spidey 2 days. It even has Bruce Campbell in it, yelling at you constantly from atop a blimp. Swinging animation is really nice and the game isn't going to blow your pants off, but the core concept of open world and being Spider-Man works and that`s what counts. Fun.
56. Wipeout 2048: HD Add-On
100% trophies. Cleared every event on the map and every campaign with Gold Medals.
57. Wipeout 2048: Fury Add-On
100% trophies. Cleared every event on the map and every campaign with Gold Medals (too).

I got this really cheap and didn't expect to enjoy it so much. Finished with 1000/1000, and I'll probably get the PS3 version later on (this one gets traded in). X-Men Origins: Wolverine level design and atmosphere combined with Arkham Asylum's combat made for some fun times. Cap's abilites can be upgraded, new costumes unlocked, collectibles unlock the complete Zemo family history, Arnim Zola's attempts to replicate the Super Soldier formula, and a shit ton of concept art. Graphics and sound are solid, Chris Evans voices Cap, and the gameplay is tight. A really good action platformer for a cheap price!

Got a bunch of achievements but the entire game is in Japanese so I don't know what any of them are. I like the 3D models and backgrounds in the 360 mode, it works well and isn't too confusing most of the time. The Christmas music turned sour at the boss fights is a nice touch as well. I like the new characters, haven't chosen a favorite yet. Will but putting some more time into this one for sure.

2013 Games Beat: 13
18) Heavy Nova (Genesis) 2,386,670 pts. on Defaults
Something possessed me to stay with this game of slight pain until I finished it.
Got the Perfect against two bosses @ 1M each. The first boss can't be thrown so I spammed jump kicks on him, flying away after each one to avoid being hit back. Jump kicks are pretty low risk. One thing that's a bitch during boss battles is the attack gauge under your lifebar. If it's at 3 blocks or lower, you can't attack with even a simple punch or kick. Boo. You'll have to wait for it to get to a minimum of 4. Throws have to be done just right, compared to SFII's forgiving grapple system. If you're a little off, the throw whiffs and will certainly get punished. The controls do have a steep learning curve and may seem stiff at first, but can be worked with.
After the first one, the CPU bosses are cheap- they'll turtle a bit by flying into the air. Wins by decision don't happen here- time over means game over, and a lifebar advantage means zip. Winning takes cheese- throws like back drop should be the priority move, with jump kick as a backup.
There's an Engrish gem in the ending. We hereby award you the highest military citation, ...Heavy Nova... Please devote yourself to maintain peace through our galaxy. The United World Defence Forces Commander in Chef (sic), Murakami.
Sega-16's review is bang on, all the way up to its 5/10 rating. Heavy Nova is not great, but it doesn't exactly qualify as a kusoge. Where's Micronet now? Actually they're still around but they don't make any more games. Now they do 3D design software for PC like 3D Atelier.
UPDATE: Got 4,318,360 on another run.

Beaten on Normal. Black Side/Red Side. Super glad I imported it. It having EFIGS-J on the disc for menus, voices and subtitles makes it a win-win if you want the game and can't wait. Great, great combat, surprisingly more varied than I imagined. Online is kind of barren, but it seems like they knew this and threw as many modes into Simulator and Online as they could. Some of the weirder modes are pretty fun too. I wasn't a fan of disasters happening on the map every fixed x minutes, but it kind of grew on me. Multi-pathing for some maps is pretty nice and the Black Side/White Side part of the Campaign adds enough to not feel exactly identical but interesting in their own way (branches a-b-c of a map can be open for Black Side/Jack and c-d-e for Leo). Also, the music is the best rap I've heard in years.
