No! I think it really was his best!

I like Wes Anderson but we've known he makes movies with good set design and cinematography for a long time. It's time for more than that.
Shut up. Wes Anderson makes the finest Wes Anderson films. You and your fellow plebs can go watch your Promotheus and spend pages arguing about how it sucks or doesn't. Stay out of this.
    YAH IT'S TIME. http://www.etsy.com/shop/Finchie THAT's WHAT TIME.

At least with Prometheus there's a question...

  3. Because Moonrise Kingdom is the best film of all time. Yes, i know. I established that already.

I think I made 2 posts in that thread.

  5. THREE COUNTING THIS ONE. You haven't even seen Moonrise Kingdom, so shut up until you do.

Your Wes Anderson opinion has officially been invalidated to me, Life Aquatic was anything but "coasting".

  7. Life Aquatic and Fantastic Mr. Fox were really good so I don't think he's coasting.

Wes Anderson's films do tend to have an unmistakable look and feel to them though which can be good or bad depending on whether you like his stuff at all in the first place. I haven't checked this movie out but maybe once it's out on Netflix or Redbox.

  8. So far, i think Darjeeling was the only one that was ON THE RAILS (ha ha ha ha). If you love Wes Anderson for being Wes Anderson, it's still a good movie, but otherwise you probably hate those stupid rich white people weh wehing their way across India. Moonrise is about children being angry at mopey adults! It's mostly new ground!

  9. I think Darjeeling is under appreciated. It's gorgeous, it has a great soundtrack and it has that scene where the brothers trade non-prescription Indian medication over dinner. It's good!

NOW, I saw Moonrise Kingdom the other day and also loved it. Probably the least... sad of his movies. The pedo scene on the beach is really well done, especially when you consider how sex-minded and clueless 12 year-olds are. At times it does feel like Adventures on Melancholy Island, but it's so goddamn sweet that it never really wallows in its quirks. I definitely liked it more than Mr. Fox, which says a lot because I rather liked that movie too :

No Kinks on the soundtrack too, which I missed, but I guess it makes sense considering it's 1965. Also, man does Wes Anderson hate dogs or what?

All of his movies are basically this. Rushmore, Royal Tenenbaums, Darjeeling--they all have elements of that. Suzy is basically Margo Tenenbaum at age 12, I'm surprised she didn't start smoking at some point in the movie.
